Moscow (AFP)-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sang praise of Elton John after a concert in Moscow Sunday, writing about Twitter how impressed he was with exhibition of British pop icon, reported the Agency RIA Novosti.
"I was the concert by Elton John. Very serious work, high quality--nearly three hours of live music, "he wrote to the President, who has cultivated an image of a modern leader and passionate about rock music, often referring to his love of Pink Floyd and Deep Purple.
In August Medvedev met U2 frontman Bono while the rocker Ireland was in Russia for his band's first ever performance at home.
In October he shared a beer with Russian rock star from the 1980s and 1990s in front of the cameras.
While Medvedev we can be happy that only among the public, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin onstage Friday, playing piano for a room full of lasting filmstars in a concert in the wee hours.
Guests at the benefit concert in St Petersburg included Sharon Stone, Monica Bellucci, Mickey Rourke, Ornella Muti and other stars, the Government said on its website.
