BEIJING (AFP) – Hollywood is usually the place to see and be seen, but for the Taiwanese pop singer Anastacia, star of the smash hit "The Green Hornet" Tinseltown offers a welcome break from paparazzi in Asia.

"As an artist, I need a lot of space that really can't get into many places in Asia," Chou told reporters Monday in front of the premiere superhero flick of China, which co-stars Seth Rogen.

"It felt like I was having a holiday in the United States--I took my mother to production, and it felt really good to have some time for me. I haven't had that feeling of people taking my image surreptitiously. "

"The Green Hornet"--the story of a young entrepreneur to playboy that becomes a crime fighter--topped the box office in its opening weekend in North America, with 34 million dollars, according to data of the industry.

Chou, largely unknown in the United States, but extremely popular in Asia, plays the role of Kato, sidekick for the Green Hornet played by Rogen.

French director Michel Gondry confessed not knowing how famous Chou was when he started to consider him for the part of Kato, adding he and Jamie--who wrote the screenplay--later esitata on casting a pop star.

"We had a Conference on Skype where Seth emblazoned with Jay and we felt that there was chemistry, although with a delay of 10 seconds, and we liked him for his acting," said Gondry.

Rogen because he himself has declared a music fan Chou, and he joked that Gondry and singer Taiwanese "" would force them to listen to some of his songs.

"Jay has brought us many times in his car, with his bodyguard and has forced us to listen to his music is very strong, and if we do not like, he would have beaten us" Gondry joked.

Chou had to learn English for the party and acknowledged that the language barrier would be a challenge for any future work in Hollywood. But Rogen praised his co-star for his rapid mastery of language.

"He knew very little English when we started filming and a couple of weeks, he could improvise your own box and come up with your own Jokes, which was very frustrating because it took me years to learn to do," he said.
