OWN completing his anniversary month (AP)

NEW YORK – as it approaches its brand of a month, Oprah Winfrey network has grown its audience for prime-time by a third party network that has replaced.

Full day their viewership is 25% above last year's public health, the Discovery Channel has supported the right when it signed on 1st January.

Christina Norman, the network's CEO, calls his first month "an encouraging start and declares," The idea works. "

"The public understands what this is supposed to be," said Friday from Headquarters in Los Angeles. "There is a network built around a person. Is a network built around worldview a person ".

That person, of course, Oprah Winfrey, who is ending his syndicated talk shows weekday this spring to devote himself full-time to his initiation of cable, which is available in 80 million homes.

An average of 297000 viewers are watching right in the first time, with an average of 145,000 viewers tuned throughout the day, according to data from Nielsen Co. measuring the network from January 1st to 23 January.

The network has launched with the new series of seven, six of whom said Norman have made a promising start.

The exception is "your own Show: Oprah's search for the next TV Star," which has experienced the erosion of the public.

"Really has not found its audience, and that is a sort of drag," said Norman. "But you live and you learn".

Even so, it will air on its completion, with the winner of the contest awarded a show on your own, as expected.

"Someone's going to win and the life of someone really is going to change," said Norman.

In February, the network will introduce "Our America with Lisa Ling" as "what would you Do?," an acquisition from ABC News, as well as two series of real life more originally set for a debut next: "Breaking Down the bar," which takes viewers into prison for women, and "Searching for ...," which follows the work of a professional genealogist investigative.

In daylight, "The Gayle King Show" after two weeks on the air is attracting an average of 118,000 viewers for its two daily news.

But just announced that plans for another day venture, a talk show like ABC'S "The View", were abolished.

"For me, is to double on what works," said Norman. "We are concentrating on Gayle and prime time. This is where our energy is better spent. "

"The goal is to build their own over a year, how Come multiple new exhibit," he said, adding: "we're still telling people where it is."
