Brother of Princess Diana committed to a Canadian (AP)

London – is filling up the British aristocracy's civil marriage.

Less than two months after Prince William is due to marry his sweetheart of University Kate Middleton in Westminster Abbey on 29 April, his uncle the Earl Spencer, will be tying the knot with philanthropist Canada Karen Gordon in his ancestral home of Althorp, in Central England.

Representatives of Spencer said Tuesday the marriage took place during a private ceremony, 18 June, but no further details will be communicated.

Spencer, 46, is the brother of the late Princess Diana. He remains best known for the praise of movement that he delivered to his funeral service in 1997.

But he was an aristocrat himself — a count — a family of title that dates back to the 17th century. He worked as a writer and broadcaster, including a stint as a contributing correspondent for NBC News. He is the author of books including "The Spencer family and a military history" well-received "Blenheim: battle for Europe."

Gordon is founder and chief executive of whole Child International, a Los Angeles-based charity that works to help orphans, abandoned or abused children.

Will the third marriage to Spencer. He has four children from his first marriage, Victoria Lockwood, and two children by his second marriage to Caroline Freud.
