LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Hollywood stars prepare for crisis as the traditional Golden Raspberry Awards--or Razzies--have revealed the top 24 hours prior to the annual awards of Tinseltown, Oscar.
Stars including Jennifer Aniston, Ashton Kutcher, Robert Pattinson, Miley Cyrus and Barbra Streisand are on the shortlist for the Razzies, billed as "greeting the worst that Hollywood has to offer each year."
While not detracting from the Academy Awards--the culmination of the annual awards season in Hollywood on Sunday night--the Razzies provide a fun if sometimes painful sideshow on the eve of the main event.
Recipients unhappy--the stars rarely actually turn up, although Sandra Bullock heroically appeared last year--will be announced on Saturday night the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation.
Candidates for 2010 top flop films include "Sex and the City 2" big-budget "Clash Of The Titans", "The Last Airbender," "the Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Vampire suck."
Worst actor nominees include Jack Black for "Gulliver's travels," action "star Gerard Butler at The Bounty Hunter" weakly received and Kutcher to not one but two critical flops: "Killer" and "Valentine's day."
The cast of "bling obsessed superslick chick flick, Sex and the City 2"--Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon--had everyone nods for worst actress nomination.
"Last Airbender"--whose Director m. Night Shyamalan has been described as a "repeat offender"--is a slew of Razzies, including worst films, worst Director, worst remake, Worst screenplay and worst entire cast.
You may also take the dubious honor of winning a Razzie category new: mis-use worst eye gouging of 3D.
Well, the parody of Hollywood awards as holding the breath--while enjoying some pre-Oscars party, of course--before Oscar show which starts at 5: 00 pm Sunday (0100 GMT Monday).
Lead partner for real top hit the weekend is led by British historical drama "the King's Speech," nominated in 12 categories of Oscars, including best actor Colin Firth as a King George VI stammering.
But critics say Facebook film "The Social Network", about how Mark Zuckerberg has created the website link to start controversial world while he was a student at Harvard, could still edge the flick royal from the top spot.
Other films expected to win prizes include disturbing thriller ballet "Black Swan" starring Natalie Portman--which is the lead partner to pick up an Oscar for best actress on Sunday.
Actor James Franco and Anne Hathaway will host the exhibition of Oscar, while the organisers this week has released more details of who will be presenting the awards, latest included Helen Mirren, Javier Bardem, Mila Kunis and Amy Adams.
The weekend will also no doubt endless Feast, ranging from traditional Elton John Oscar bash in west Hollywood at a reported co-hosted by Madonna and Demi Moore.
Once the big show is over, the real fun begins: Oscar after party--and after parties--Go on well into Monday as Hollywood gets its annual awards season, the abuse.
