MIAMI BEACH, Florida – British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver called a "Froot Loop" by Sarah Palin for criticizing the Obama administration's healthy eating, get healthy food for children is a civil rights issue.

In the United States is in a "time really dark" when it comes to children's health and needs to make this a priority, says Oliver, who tried to transform the diet of a city in West Virginia with his show to ABC 2010 "Jamie's Food Revolution" and included a new version of Los Angeles.

Enhance what children eat at school alone can have a positive effect on their health habits and deep as adults, Oliver said Saturday during an interview for Associated Press to wine and Food Festival in South Beach.

He said he doesn't have much confidence that the Government will lead the way, but said that the Obama administration is on the right track.

Palin, by contrast, "clearly on this subject is a cycle Froot," he said.

The President has recently signed a bill that would increase federal reimbursement for free school lunches and expands the Government's nutrition requirements for free and reduced meals that subsidizes to cover all foods sold during school hours.

Some groups argue that school will be difficult for schools already stretched to pay for the new requirements and Palin and other conservatives have argued that tell kids what to eat is a case of interference of the Government, and that parents should decide what their children eat.

But Oliver, who launched his career in England as "The Naked Chef", countered that he has heard from pediatricians and dentists who feel that some parents are edging towards child abuse by not feeding them healthy food. And he argues that the obesity epidemic is hampering the American spirit of problem-solving and ingenuity.

"From my view of the health situation at this moment, we are really not allowing Americans to be Americans," he said.

But He predicted that once the majority of the public takes to his ideas, things will change rapidly.

"Americans, when you get them on something, will move faster than anyone else," he said. "I think of America going to react very strongly to what I've shot over the past two months."
