LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – "The social network", a drama teso telling stabbing back early days of Facebook, has been named best picture Sunday from Los Angeles Film Critics Association, a group which collects edgy rarely align with the Oscar.
The film won in three other categories including Best Director, where David Fincher tied up with Olivier Assayas on the epic French terrorist "Carlos". Also won for the screenplay by Aaron Sorkin and tied with "The Ghost Writer" for music/score.
"Social network" Star Jesse Eisenberg like Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire founder of the popular website. The film portrays Zuckerberg hard, and he has stepped up its charitable efforts in the wake of its release.
Foreigners took all four awards for acting. In the categories of lead, Oscar favorite Colin Firth won for her performance of Great Britain stammering George VI in "Of the King speech." Korean Actress Kim Hye-ja was honored for his role as the title character in the crime drama vengeful "Mother"
Supporting acting races went to a couple of veterans who have played the criminals. Niels Arestrup French actor won for her role as a gangster in prison drama "a prophet," while Jacki Weaver was awarded for his turn as a matriarch of crime in Australia, "Animal Kingdom."
In other categories, "Carlos" won also foreign language film, "Toy Story 3" for the animation, "Last Train Home" for the documentary, "Black Swan" cinematography, and "Inception" for the production designer.
In facilitating sophisticated movies, critics of Los Angeles has rarely predict the best picture Oscar winner. But both groups were in alignment of last year with "The Hurt Locker." Previously on the same page for 1993 of "Schindler's list."
Separately, "The Social Network", "Toy Story 3" and "Inception" deposited spot on the list of top 10 films of the American Film Institute of 2010.
The body of the film-promotion of other top picks, in alphabetical order, were "Black Swan," "The Fighter," "The Kids Are All Right," "working time 127", "The Town", "True Grit" and "Bones of winter." Notably missing was "Of the King speech."
The group, one of many industry bodies, exposing on best film of the year as awards season heats up, does not list movies in order of merit.
His choices below a predictable path of the acclaimed film split between the arthouse fare and mainstream. "Black Swan" and "the Fighter" are just emerged in limited version, while the brothers Coen remake of "True Grit" Western hits the runway this month. The results were determined by a panel of critics and other industry notables.
