Snoop Dogg, Bjork to star at Manchester (Reuters)

London (Reuters)-singer/Rapper Snoop Dogg and Icelandic singer Bjork is among the stars at the opening of the Manchester International Festival this year on June 30.

Snoop Dogg will play a one-off show at the O2, Manchester Apollo on July 15, when he will perform his debut album "doggystyle" in its entirety.

Doggystyle was released in 1993, went straight to number one on the U.S. charts, and was then the fastest debut of all time. The organizers of the Festival, said the event would include live appearances from original featured guests including Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, RBX, The Lady of Rage.

Bjork will perform six shows for her first British dates back more than three years.

The pop star will Biophilia, offbeat a multimedia project that includes music, apps, internet, installations and live shows.

It will feature a specially designed body that accepts information in digital and a 30-foot pendulum designed to exploit the gravitational pull of the Earth to create "musical".

Will feature singer Damon Albarn of blur and Gorillaz fame with his new composition, "Doctor Dee."

The work, directed by Rufus Norris centers Dr John Dee, the 16th century astrologer, Alchemist, mathematician and spy who was Advisor to Elizabeth I.

"The inspiration for Marlowe's Faust and Shakespeare's Prospero, Dee studied the skies, spoke with archangels, and has paid a bitter price staff," said festival.

Manchester International Festival takes place every two years and showcases original works and special events. It will take place from June 30-July 17.
