LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Charlie Sheen checked into rehab Friday, his spokesman said a day after the troubled actor was rushed to hospital after a party Marathon reported drug and alcohol-fueled.
The star of 45-year-old--dubbed the "good time Charlie"--has spent the day in a hospital Thursday after suffering what has been described as "serious abdominal pains" reported because of a hiatal hernia.
His spokesman, Stan Rosenfield said early Friday that Sheen was planning to return to the set of TV show "Two and a half men" next Tuesday the health scare.
But in an update next Friday, said: "Charlie Sheen voluntarily entered a rehabilitation center dedicated today. He is very grateful to all those who have expressed their concern.
"Mr. Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at the moment and that will not be provided any additional information," he added.
The celebrity website TMZ reported that emergency Sheen Thursday early came after a long day "wild" 36 hours involving a Briefcase full of cocaine and five men including a porn star.
Friday, TMZ ran a video with a woman who said it was the porn star giving lurid details of the party, the latest hell-raising involving the star, son of actor Martin Sheen.
The star of the sitcom "Two and a half men" and "Spin City" filed for divorce from his wife of two years in November, days after being hospitalized after a drunken incident reported in New York.
People and other entertainment magazines said star, one of the best-paid TV actors, has been hospitalized after causing serious damage to his room at the Plaza Hotel, where police found him drunk, naked and in the company of a woman.
Last August, Sheen guilty of a charge of assault resulting from a violent altercation Christmas day with his wife, while vacationing in Aspen, Colorado, but avoid jail under a deal with prosecutors.
Sheen had many run-ins with the law in the 1990s in drug-related cases, domestic violence and prostitution.
He also accused of assaulting his former wife, actress Denise Richards, known for his role as James Bond girl.
