London (Reuters) – the English rock band Coldplay will headline Glastonbury music festival this year, appearing on the main stage for the slot pyramid on Saturday night, organizers said on Tuesday.
They added that singer that Beyonce would seem even to the event, one of the largest outdoor music festival in the pop calendar.
"Coldplay played such an important part of the Festival over the past decade or so," Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis said on the website of the festival.
"As their popularity has grown around the world I was so proud of them. This is the triumphant return of a band that everyone feels a part of. Are one of the largest phenomena to grow from these fields. " Will be the first show of the band at Glastonbury since 2005.
Coldplay made her debut at the event, held on a farm in South West England, that is transformed into a home town-cum-rock of tent, in 1999 in new bands tent weeks after signing the contract.
Speaking of Beyonce, daughter and co-organizer of Emily Eavis said: "I went to see her live last year and was blown away with the strength of the show. She has such a soul, a surprising entry with a band of incredible, all-female.
"She is, I believe, the first female solo artist to title, so it's a great time for us. What better way to see off Festival until 2013? "
Glastonbury plays most years with occasional interruption, including 2012.
